Italy budget deficit target of 2.0% reportedly still not low enough for the EU

According to a report by Il Messaggero

The Italian government has already shown signs of willingness to compromise on the matter but I’d be inclined to believe that their giving spirit can only extend so far. Reports are saying that the government is looking to already cut the deficit target from 2.4% to 2.0% now, but a further cut may be one step too many.

Meanwhile, a report by the Ansa says that Italian lawmakers are to debate on the budget tomorrow at the lower house in parliament. Let’s see if they have anything to say to the latest developments here.
